I was so excited when the movie Inside Out came out on DVD because we hadn’t seen it yet. So I did what any smart mom would do and ran out to Walmart to grab a copy. While I was there I also picked up a few things to make a Kid Craft for Emotions inspired by the movie!
The movie Inside Out was right in the middle of the movie, tv entertainment area with fun Inside Out balloons.
The movie is about emotions and the colorful characters represent different emotions. This colorful craft will allow for time to talk about emotions with your kids.
We all know how much kids like candy so this project involves Skittles mostly because they are so colorful. Sort the candies by colors = emotions.
Then you’ll need clear plastic ornaments. Please make sure you get plastic ornaments since this is an activity for kids. Remove the ornament top and fill each ornament with a color.
Then, take a sheet of stickers full of different expression, talk about the different emotions that some of the faces could represent. and apply them to the appropriate candy filled ornament.
When we were in Walmart we popped over to the toy area to find some toys to just add to the all the fun. We found Bing Bong by Tomy toys. This toy led to a funny conversation about imaginary friends with my 4 year old. Click here and see all the other fun with Inside Out at Walmart.
The movie, toy and craft was a lot of fun with my kids. Not only fun but we have had some good conversations about emotions and feelings. We talked about why the characters were the color the were in the movie.
Have you seen the movie with your family? I’d love to know which was your favorite character from the movie. You can tell me down in the comments.
